Martín Benavidez, Director
Born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1986. He is an architect graduated from the Facultad de Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba and from the Instituto de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de Universidade de São Paulo. He holds a specialization in Urban Design from the Escola da Cidade, a Master’s degree in Housing and City from the Escola da Cidade, and a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidade de São Paulo. He was a visiting researcher at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and an artist-in-residence at the Architekturforum Oberösterreich in Linz.
He has been a graduate professor at the Facultad de Arquitectura, Urbanismo y Diseño de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba since 2018, and an undergraduate professor since 2021. He has been a Visiting Full Professor at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella since 2024. He served as a jury member at the MOVE Cine-Arch Architecture and Film Festival in Venice. In 2018, he founded the firm Ben-Avid, based in the city of Córdoba, Argentina.
The office develops architectural projects at national and international levels, across diverse scales and complexities: commercial spaces, galleries and exhibition halls, urban and metropolitan transportation infrastructure, urban master plans, among others. Notable works include the Museo Marítimo de Brasil in Rio de Janeiro and the Brazil Pavilion for Expo 2020 Dubai, a project that received a nomination for the MCHAP – Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize and the Building of the Year Award from ArchDaily. In 2021, Ben-Avid was selected by the same platform as one of the 20 most outstanding young practices worldwide. In 2022, the studio was selected as a finalist for the Début Award at the Trienal de Lisboa Millennium.
